FAQ

JMRL has a single catalog with two different interfaces to access and experience the entire collection.

Classic is the base interface provided by the catalog vendor.  It is a simplified experience for users who do not wish to see a lot of additional content.

Find It is a modernized interface built in an open-source application.  It is an updated experience similar to more current catalog websites with large book covers, carousels, and full integration in JMRL's website

Read more and see FAQs about the catalog on the page Findit.

By state law, JMRL has to keep all accounts current.  Therefore JMRL patron accounts expire and require renewal every three years.

No need for a new card if your account expires!  If you receive one of these messages, email circulation@jmrl.org or contact your local JMRL branch by phone or email to verify your account information.

JMRL has 24hr Contactless Hold pickup lockers at the following branches: Crozet, Gordon, Greene, Louisa, Nelson, and Scottsville. To use the outdoor lockers select "(Branch) Locker" as your hold pickup location in the online catalog. Library staff will place the items in the locker and you’ll receive an email notification that the items are ready. (Due to limited locker space, your holds may be available sooner if picked up inside the branch.)

At the locker kiosk, scan your library card and follow the onscreen instructions. The corresponding locker door will automatically pop open with the items checked out and ready to go.

Check out our blog post featuring an instructional video for more information.
